Boeing may introduce a Soviet-era military transport jet as a new option for the US military's need for a new fleet of small airlifters, the airframer told Flight International in Washington, DC yesterday.

The Antonov An-72, a 70-seat jet with over-wing-mounted engines (pictured below in Aeroflot livery), is one of the options Boeing is considering to enter the US Army's pending Future Cargo Aircraft (FCA) competition, says George Muellner, Boeing vice president for Air Force Systems.

Asiana crew struggles to land A321 after hail encounter PDF Print E-mail

The crew of an Asiana Airlines Airbus A321 managed to land safely after the aircraft was damaged flying through a hailstorm on 9 June. Hailstones that the South Korean airline says “looked 5cm [2in] wide” ripped off the nose cone, caused a 20cm-wide hole in one of the engine cowlings and cracked the windshield.

Nepal's Yeti Airlines confirms 9 killed in de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter crash PDF Print E-mail

Emirates remains totally committed to the A380, saying that fundamentally it promises to be a "superb aircraft."Speaking to ATWOnline in Sydney, Emirates President Tim Clark urged Airbus to instigate program management changes quickly and refocus its energies on getting the program back on track. He was bullish on Airbus CEO Gustav Humbert's efforts, saying, "Humbert is honest and is demanding accountability."
